Spencer and Drew have enjoyed exploring the ever changing American landscape together ever since they first met in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They both currently work as Park Rangers, giving tours and interpreting the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado.
Spencer Burke studied the history of archaeology at Harvard University. After graduating, he received a fellowship from the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, which he spent working on a dig at the ancient Maya city of Copán in Honduras and working on a book concerning early archaeologists at Chichén Itzá and questions about who owns the past.
Drew Reagan studied anthropology and archaeology at UC Berkeley. Drew has worked on and off for our public lands since 2009, surveying archaeological sites in Nevada’s Basin and Range for the Forest Service and GIS mapping for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Along the way, he has developed a strong appreciation for the natural and human history of the American West protected in our public lands.
